MADE FOR CREATORS

Why use this tool

Square and portrait posts use the feed differently, so the best crop is rarely identical. ImgZelo prepares both formats from one source while storing a separate crop position for each. Your image is processed locally in the browser and is not uploaded to ImgZelo servers.

COMMON RATIOS

Choose the right Instagram post shape

A 1:1 square post is commonly prepared at 1080 × 1080 pixels. It is balanced, predictable, and useful for product grids, illustrations, quotes, and images that already have a centered subject. A 4:5 portrait post is commonly 1080 × 1350 pixels. It occupies more vertical space in the feed and can suit portraits, fashion, food, and step-by-step graphics.

Instagram also supports landscape posts around a 1.91:1 ratio, often prepared near 1080 × 566 pixels. Landscape works well for wide scenes and group photographs, but it appears shorter in the feed. This page directly generates the square and portrait presets; if a landscape composition is important, prepare a dedicated wide version rather than forcing the same crop to serve every ratio.

COMPOSITION

Understand what cropping removes

Changing from a wide photograph to a square or portrait post requires part of the source to be removed. ImgZelo scales the image until the target canvas is filled, then crops the overflow without stretching. A square crop may remove both sides of a landscape photo, while a 4:5 crop removes even more horizontal context. A tall source can lose content from the top and bottom when converted to square.

Use the preview selector to switch between the square and portrait outputs. Each size remembers its own position, so moving the portrait crop does not disturb the square crop. Keep faces, text, and logos away from the edges, and allow room for Instagram interface elements when the design includes information that must stay readable.

PRACTICAL TIPS

Prepare a cleaner feed image

Start with the largest clean original available instead of a screenshot that has already been compressed. Check small text at the actual size people are likely to see, and reduce clutter before making the type smaller. For carousel posts, use one ratio consistently across the set so later slides are not unexpectedly cropped by the first slide's format.

The tool exports resized posts as JPG. Photos are usually well suited to JPG, while artwork that depends on transparency should remain PNG in another workflow. If a platform or scheduling tool imposes a file-size limit, resize first and then compress the exported image once.

GOOD TO KNOW
